Dr James Morandini is a clinical psychologist and researcher. He founded King Street Psychology Clinic to offer a dedicated and evidence based clinical psychology service for gender and sexually diverse individuals. Dr Morandini currently divides his time between his clinical work and his passion for furthering research and collaborating with other researchers in the areas of gender identity, gender dysphoria, and sexual orientation, and unusual sexual interests. Dr Morandini’s belief is that individuals experiencing gender-related concerns (i.e., experiencing gender dysphoria, or questioning their gender identity) and issues related to sexual orientation and unusual sexual interests deserve access to care which is person centred and culturally sensitive as well as informed by the latest empirical and scientific knowledge. In order to ensure as many individuals and their families are able to access appointments, Dr Morandini offers short to medium term services only. Clients can access 6 appointments for the below services, and in some cases, up to 10. These services are available to individuals of all ages, as well as couples or families who require these specific interventions.
Services for Gender Dysphoria and Gender Identity related concerns
Dr Morandini works with all age groups, and has clinical and research experience with gender identity related concerns in children, adolescents, and adults.
Diagnosis & Treatment Recommendations
Dr Morandini provides diagnostic assessment of gender dysphoria and co-occurring mental health concerns, and recommendations for treatment and / or management. Dr Morandini may also be able to provide recommendations or other services where he considers these would be beneficial, or to make referrals to specialists where relevant, or provide a referral to another clinical psychologist who can provide any recommended longer term treatment.
Information & Education
As part of providing an opinion on diagnosis, Dr Morandini offers education about gender dysphoria for individual clients and where appropriate caregivers or partners. This includes understanding different pathways to gender dysphoria, how neurodiversity and other co-occurring psychological factors may relate to gender, the stresses and challenges related to the varied experiences of gender dysphoria, and evidence regarding the longer-term course of gender dysphoria and response to gender related interventions (i.e., hormonal or surgical transition). Dr Morandini is informed by the most up to date published research on treatment approaches and long term outcomes.

Dr Morandini offers consultation with other treatment providers such as clinical psychologists who are developing their skills in the assessment and treatment of gender dysphoria, and require confidential input and support for the treatment of their existing patient/s with gender dysphoria and related concerns. Dr Morandini believes that knowledge and expertise required to support transgender, non-binary and gender questioning individuals should be integrated within our various medical and mental health professions and services. As such he is dedicated to disseminating the available research and sharing his clinical experience by providing training to groups of practitioners, such as psychologists and psychotherapists, GPs, psychiatrists, and a wide range of medical and mental health professionals and services. Services for Sexuality, Sexual Orientation, Sexual Interest related concerns
Dr Morandini consults with adolescents and adults regarding sexuality, sexual orientation, and sexual interest related concerns. He will see children on a case-by-case basis.Dr Morandini does not have training in and therefore cannot offer forensic services such as forensic assessments, medico-legal reports, expert reports, and risk assessments, etc.

Dr Morandini provides assessment for concerns regarding sexual orientation, unusual sexual interests, and paraphilias, and offers recommendations pertaining to ongoing management. Psychophysiological Assessment
In addition to administering standardised self report questionnaires and taking a clinical history, assessment can also include objective measurement of sexual interest, such as eye-tracking and penile plethysmography (PPG), which are objective measurements of arousal, and can be used to provide clarification around sexual preferences.

Dr Morandini provides sensitive and normalising education and information for individual clients, and where applicable and appropriate, partners or caregivers about sexual orientation, sexual concerns, unusual sexual interests. Dr Morandini provides information regarding the most up to date research. Support is also offered in relation to self-acceptance and adjustment and / or interpersonal concerns.
